The Point Fortin Branch in southwest Trinidad held it's first branch conference last week.
What a success story!
Here is a little history:
The branch was created on April 18, 2008. We were there and I took this picture of the little group.
Missionaries working in the new branch were Elder Shideler, Elder Vance, and Elder and Sister Farrer.
The founding members were the Mohammed family. Brother Mohammed became the branch president.
The two young women in the front row, Melissa and Shareen Mohammed, were the first to be baptized.
Sunday May 10th 2009 was the day of Point Fortin Branch Conference. There were a total of 44 in attendance, including members, investigators, Elder Alverado (Area Seventy), Bro. Gamiette (next mission president) and President Robison.
Here is the Mohammed family with the priesthood visitors
The Highlight of the conference was 6 confirmations, and 1 presentation of a member to receive the Aaronic Priesthood. The branch is growing.
I was particularly impressed that almost every person baptized into the Point Fortin Branch was in attendance at the conference - that is the kind of retention we like to see!
The Branch meets in a two hour block each Sunday, but with numbers growing they are planning to start adding the third hour soon.
It's a good thing
Just look at these darling young women from Point Fortin who attended the mission home fireside this month
thanks for the post!
