Elders serving in French Guiana are quite isolated from the rest of the mission. There is no couple serving there and the Elders are far from their French 'brothers' in Martinique and Guadeloupe. Because travel to French Guiana is expensive, exhausting, and limited, my husband and I don't get there very often. But the few times we do, the experience is fascinating. French Guiana missionaries normally travel to Suriname for zone conference (by van, canoe, and taxi!) but this time they had their own private zone conference with us in our hotel.
