We have frozen this blog as a historical, yet informational view at what life is like in the West Indies Mission for all those called to serve. This blog was designed for the families and friends of those missionaries serving in the West Indies Mission from July 2006 to July 2009. Every six weeks, photos taken at zone conference as well as a new slide show including every person baptized were posted on the blog. All of the slide shows are also available on our You Tube channel. The current West Indies Mission blog can be found here. Posts on our missionary experience can be found here and earlier. And finally, if you are a returned missionary who served in the West Indies, there is a current blog for you. Click here or visit westindiesrm@blogspot.com

Not fun!

We got to the airport at 8 ish to check in for our 10 pm flight to Suriname tonight. We got all checked in and were walking away from the counter with our boarding passes when one of the assistants said, 'hey, it says board at 1:00 AM.' We went back to check and found that the flight was delayed at least until 2 this morning

NOT FUN!

Here is one of those 'kisses from heaven' that made things a little better. Our branch president, President Alleyne, who is also a taxi driver, took us to the airport. He always drops us off and drives home. This time, just as we were walking through the airport with sad faces, he walked up to us. We asked him why he parked his taxi and came back to check on us and he said he just wanted to. He has never done that before, but because he did we were able come back home and wait and (and maybe sleep a bit) so we will be somewhat human tomorrow for our work in Suriname.

I should have snapped a picture of President Alleyne but I forgot. However, we went to Sister Alleyne's 68th birthday party this week - so here is his wonderful wife plus Elders Packer and Barker organizing a fun game for the grandchildren.
