We have frozen this blog as a historical, yet informational view at what life is like in the West Indies Mission for all those called to serve. This blog was designed for the families and friends of those missionaries serving in the West Indies Mission from July 2006 to July 2009. Every six weeks, photos taken at zone conference as well as a new slide show including every person baptized were posted on the blog. All of the slide shows are also available on our You Tube channel. The current West Indies Mission blog can be found here. Posts on our missionary experience can be found here and earlier. And finally, if you are a returned missionary who served in the West Indies, there is a current blog for you. Click here or visit westindiesrm@blogspot.com

Trinidad Zone Conference

Trinidad Zone Conferences are wonderful!

Partly because they are held in the handy and comfortably air conditioned mission home but mostly because the missionaries serving in Trinidad are amazing. They are good, obedient, hard working young men.

The discussions today were great. Here are a few shots of the assistants' (Elders Walker and Williamson) presentation on Sherpas (better known as area books). Did you know that missionaries learn to be organized planners and record keepers? That is quite a challenge for young men who, a year or so ago, probably didn't even pick up their socks.

According to the assistants, "The area book is like a Sherpa (mountain climbing guide)" - it knows the area and helps us achieve our goals - note Elder Williamson in mountain climbing Sherpa gear.

The Elders traded area books and then tried to plan a lesson based on a teaching record

Here is what is fun about Sherpas.

According to the Assistants:

According to President Robison

"It is the only 'she' you can hold in your arms and write letters to every night!"

After a morning of hard work and learning, we all had a treat - the Trinidad couples made a yummy lunch of hamburgers cooked on the barbecue.

Missionary couples are the best!
